We have been quoted in The Times in response to the news that a 72 year old British couple have been awarded a parental order for a US surrogate born 14 month old baby.
Along with our co-campaigners Stop Surrogacy Now UK, we have been quoted and reiterated our call for a ban on Britons being allowed to pursue surrogacy abroad.
It is despicable that people in their seventies went abroad to buy a baby off its mother, knowing full well they would be unlikely to see the child through to adulthood. The people appointed guardians for the child were not informed in advance of the couple’s plans; the guardians in question were friends of the commissioning parents late son, who died in 2022 aged 27.
